Inseparable cryptographic linking of microchip with card body to meet highest security requirements
Smart cards and electronic documents such as the new German ID card already have integrated high-security microchips and many innovative applications would not be possible without them. The aim of the UMABASA project is to further the development of these high-security smart cards to afford greater protection against manipulation. This is achieved by merging the microchip with the surrounding physical structures, which cannot be reproduced. The link between the chip, information and card is implemented using so-called physically unclonable functions.
